Bertuzzi Expected To Play For East Team
Todd Bertuzzi has given up hope on returning to Calgary, and is now expected to sign with an American team in the Eastern Conference.
"They never called me," Bertuzzi told the Calgary Herald of the Flames on Thursday. "No calls from them whatsoever. So obviously, I'm out of their picture."
He then discussed possible landing spots.
"I'm speaking to about three teams right now," Bertuzzi said. "We're just trying to figure things out.
"If the stars align here, I could end up somewhere where the travel is a lot easier. Hopefully we'll get something done here in the next 48 hours."
Flyers To Sign Tollefsen?
The Flyers had Ole-Kristian Tollefsen in town for a physical on Sunday.
Assuming he passed the exam, Philadelphia is expected to sign the defenseman.
Afinogenov Not In Nashville's Plans
The Predators are looking for an offensive forward, but it's unlikely it'll be Maxim Afinogenov.
Afinogenov's agent, Don Meehan, approached the Predators about his client, but Nashville isn't interest in his services.
"I don't think so," Meehan told the Tennessean. "I don't anticipate hearing anything back from (Predators GM David Poile) on that. I'm not too optimistic."
Red Wings Looking For Scoring Forward
The Red Wings will be looking to fill the voids left behind by Marian Hossa, Mikael Samuelsson and possibly Jiri Hudler before training camp.
The Detroit Free-Press is reporting that the Wings are likely to have interest in former players Jason Williams and Todd Bertuzzi, and former Michigan standout Mike Comrie.

The Bruins have signed veteran defenseman Derek Morris to a one-year deal, a source told ESPN.com Friday night.
TSN reported Friday night the deal was worth $3.3M.
Morris ended last season with the Rangers after being acquired from the Coyotes at the trade deadline. He was an unrestricted free agent.
Kessel, Bruins Not Close To Deal
The Bruins and restricted free agent Phil Kessel aren't close to a new deal.
With eight weeks to go before training camp, Boston general manager Peter Chiarelli refuses to comment on the situation.
Agent: Five, Six Teams Interested In Tanguay
Five or six teams are interested in the services of free-agent winger Alex Tanguay, according to his agent.
The Panthers are interested in Tanguay, and the Senators, Stars, Oilers, Islanders and Coyotes are reportedly after him as well.
"We're still looking at everything, trying to find the best situation for him," agent Robert Sauve said. "We're going to take a little more time. We have a feeling we're close with some teams, but we don't know how much time it's going to take to finalize."
Hudler Plans To Play In Russia
Red Wings forward Jiri Hudler plans to play in the Continental Hockey League this upcoming season, a spokesman for the Russian league confirmed on Thursday, and reported by ESPN.
Hudler, a restricted free agent who had filed for salary arbitration, agreed to a two-year, tax-free deal with Moscow Dynamo. Reports indicate it is worth anywhere from $3M to $5M per year.
